Executive Function Coaching

Building skills for academic and personal success

Whether you're a student struggling to stay on top of deadlines or a parent looking for support, I offer one-on-one executive function coaching that helps students manage their time, stay organized, and feel more in control of their academic lives.

Real executive function coaching means understanding how a student thinks, where they get stuck, and why — then building systems and habits that actually work for them. I work with students directly, helping them develop strategies they can apply across all areas of school and life.

My background in special education and diverse learning gives me a strong foundation for this work. While at Harvard, I completed specialized training in inclusive education, and I've since supported thousands of students in unlocking their unique strengths and abilities. I bring that same personalized, one-on-one approach to every student I work with.

How Executive Function Coaching Can Help

Executive function coaching is not tutoring. It's not about teaching content — it's about helping students understand how they work and building strategies that fit them specifically.

Through one-on-one executive function coaching, students can:

  • Develop a more realistic understanding of who they are as learners

  • Build strategies for managing time, staying organized, and balancing academic and personal responsibilities

  • Increase motivation to engage with their work and persist when challenged

  • Reduce the stress and anxiety associated with school

  • Develop and apply strategies that address areas of challenge in a supportive environment

What to Expect

Executive function coaching sessions are 50 minutes and offered primarily via Zoom. I recommend meeting at least once per week during the school year, though sessions can also be split into two shorter meetings if that works better for your student.

Parent conferences are available on request, and I'm happy to collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and school counselors when it's helpful.

A Sample Session

Every session looks different depending on what a student needs that week. A session might include:

  • Co-creating short-term and long-term academic and personal goals

  • Breaking down a large assignment or project into a concrete, manageable timeline

  • Reviewing strategies for test preparation to reduce stress and improve performance

  • Discussing what's working and what isn't, and testing out new strategies together

Executive Function Coach FAQs

  • Executive function coaching is one-on-one support that helps students develop the skills they need to manage their time, stay organized, reduce stress, and succeed in school and beyond. Unlike tutoring, which focuses on academic content, executive function coaching focuses on the habits, strategies, and mindset that make everything else easier.

  • Executive function coaching is especially helpful for students who struggle with organization, time management, getting started on tasks, managing stress, or balancing competing responsibilities. Many of my students have ADHD or other learning differences, though executive function coaching can benefit any student who wants to work more effectively.

  • I work primarily via Zoom, which means I coach students across the country and around the world. In-person executive function coaching sessions in New York City are available on a limited basis.

  • Tutoring focuses on helping students understand academic content. Executive function coaching focuses on how students work — their habits, strategies, and approach to managing their responsibilities. The two can complement each other well, but they serve different purposes.

  • I recommend meeting at least once per week during the school year. Consistency is key, and the more regularly we meet, the faster students build the habits and strategies that make a real difference.

  • It varies by student, but most students start to notice a difference within a few weeks of consistent coaching. Building new habits takes time, which is why I recommend meeting regularly throughout the school year rather than just around high-stress periods like exams.
